Latinos Plan Nationwide Worker StrikeSupport our latino brothers, drink Heinekens not Coronas.
Hispanic groups in the U.S. are planning a major boycott of American life dubbed a ”day without Latinos” to protest proposed legislation that would criminalize illegal immigration.
Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) President Nativo Lopez, one of the organizers of the recent protests in Los Angeles that saw at least 500,000 people take to the streets, said the May 1 "day without Latinos” would send a stern message to Washington.
"We are looking forward to a major action in all large U.S. cities where immigrants make up a significant proportion of the workforce,” Lopez told Agence France-Presse.
"We are asking people not to go to school, or work, or shopping, and instead to go out and protest against the racist and inhumane measures in this bill.” Read more.

Latino free day, 12 million less
The organizers of the recent immigration demonstrations have called for national boycott of latino workers. A latino free day. So if you speak latin or lived during ancient Roman times, you get a day off on May 1. This is the same day that all worker slaves in communist and socialist countries get off from work, and which they are forced to celebrate by marching in front of their dictator masters. It is no coincidence that this is the day that the activists have chosen...no hidden agenda here.

It should say Mexican instead of Latino. Most of the illegal population here comes from Mexico. Yes, there are others, but Mexicans dwarf all others in numbers. Besides, the photos show Mexican flags.
I will definitely NOT be participating in this strike. The day I'm taking off is the day of the Marlins home opener.
I think that only "latinos" are supposed to take the day off. Are we latinos? The one plus is that I'll feel safer driving on the freeway without an unlicensed, uninsured illegal alien running into me. It has happened to me before.
This is ridiculous...it will only send a message b/c they have jobs now. What is it with this people, they want to remain with these low paying jobs? Of course, b/c they know the second the wages come up to normal about half of them would be unemployed in favor of, say, legal residents or citizens.
Orlando you are only "latino" in the sense used in the USA if you want. It's a term of empowerment, that's why I don't like it. If I have to use one, I choose Hispanic. After all papi is Gallego.
